Kunstausstellung "Wege" in der RheinWeinWelt

11/01/2024

Rüdesheim am Rhein
11:00 - 22:00

We cordially invite you to the art exhibition “Wege” by Erika Kappes and Martina Suhens.

The two Rheingau artists share a passion for art and yet each has her own way of realizing this passion. Erika Kappes pursues her path in painting in a figurative way, while Martina Suhens artistically follows abstract paths.

This contrast in creativity creates the excitement of the exhibition and ignites a firework of shapes and colors.

Embark on a journey through figurative impressions and abstract visions!

Erika Kappes immerses herself completely in her painting and can forget what is unattractive in the world. Her love of nature is reflected in her landscapes; you can hear the harmony of the waves or the roar of the sea. A glowing sky that seems almost unreal, a boat gliding gently through the water. She particularly enjoys painting faces.

She does not determine the expression of the face in advance. It emerges during the creative phase. Afterwards, she is surprised and happy with the work she has created.

Erika Kappe's career as an artist began in 2000 with watercolor painting. She took several courses with a private artist. By 2007, she had already had three solo exhibitions in the “Scheune” in Geisenheim. She has been a regular visitor to Helmut Mair's studio since 2009. There she consolidated her skills in or with acrylic painting. This was followed in 2012 by a large solo exhibition at the Bürgerzentrum in Oestrich-Winkel with landscapes, portraits and pencil drawings. In 2019 Erika Kappes found her way to pastel painting. Despite coronavirus, she ventured another solo exhibition in 2020, this time at Galerie A, Asbachgasse, in Rüdesheim. Erika Kappes now paints large portraits with her very own expression in oil, as well as landscapes that showcase her love of nature. “The true source of art is our heart.” (Caspar David Friedrich) is Erika Kappes' motto.

Martina Suhens has been painting with enthusiasm since her school days. Even though her career path took her in a different direction, painting has always been an important part of her life - first with charcoal, ink, graphite or watercolors, later a brief episode in oil.

While her work in the early years was initially figurative - motifs from the local landscape, people, animals - Martina Suhens discovered abstract painting in acrylic some time ago. She has been developing this passion since 2020 by regularly attending professional lessons with Petra Ehrnsperger, Kunst Raum Mainz. Non-objective art in particular offers the opportunity to translate moods and thoughts directly and intuitively into colors and shapes. Martina Suhens' paintings are an invitation to trace one's own feelings when looking at them.
