If you start the tour in Rüdesheim, the path leads past Bröms Castle directly up into the vineyards and then through the middle of the vineyards (mostly Riesling) towards Assmannshausen. The path runs above the Ehrenfels castle ruins. In this section, you can enjoy the special view of both the broad Upper Rhine Valley and the deep Middle Rhine Valley as well as the Mäuseturm tower directly opposite. A small loop leads directly to the castle ruins and a steep flight of steps back to the main route, which is accompanied here by a variety of bushes. The paths then spiral down to Assmannshausen and then lead steeply back up the vineyards (mostly red wine) directly opposite. But before that, you should not miss a short detour to the village with its numerous refreshment stops.
The tour leaves the Rhine valley through the varied Höllental valley towards Aulhausen, a small, tranquil village. From Aulhausen, the route climbs up into the Niederwald forest. The character of the tour changes here - from the open vineyard landscape, the paths now lead into the forest. You cross the idyllic little avenue to the hunting lodge, which is part of Ostein's Park, and shortly afterwards reach the Niederwald monument with its impressive view of the Rhine Valley. In the final section, the route leads steadily downhill through the vineyards towards Rüdesheim back to the starting point.
