Hildegard of Bingen - Strong Women in the Rheingau - Tour for International Women's Day 2025

On International Women's Day, March 8, 2025, Rüdesheim Tourist AG offers a very special tour under the motto "Strong Women in the Rheingau - Hildegard of Bingen," including coffee and cake afterward in the monastery café of the Abbey of St. Hildegard.

Hildegard of Bingen (1098-1179) is one of the most significant and fascinating figures of the Middle Ages. She was a visionary, scientist, healer, politician, composer, theologian, and founded two monasteries (Rupertsberg on the Nahe and in Rüdesheim-Eibingen). Many of her writings, especially her knowledge of natural healing, have endured to this day.

Join guide Jacqueline Palzer on an exploration around the Abbey of St. Hildegard, which was built from 1900 to 1904. After the tour, we will conclude the afternoon with coffee and cake in the monastery café of the Abbey of St. Hildegard.

The tour in German starts at 1:30 PM and lasts 1.5 - 2 hours plus a coffee break.
Meeting point for the tour is in the small park in front of the monastery church. A small circular route will stop at many stations. For the short walking distance, please ensure you wear good shoes and clothing suitable for the weather. The tour takes place in any weather. After the tour, there will be coffee and cake in the monastery café (included in the price of 22 Euros).

The Monastery Café
The tour ends around 3:30 PM with coffee and cake in the monastery café. The monastery café has been an inclusion business of the Abbey of St. Hildegard since 2020. Ending around 4:30 PM.

Before or after the tour, a visit to the monastery shop, open until 5:00 PM, is also worthwhile.
