Let's start with Mr. “Asbach and the spirit of wine”. Clearly, nothing was too difficult (difficult?) for this distiller: Why else would the young Hugo Asbach come back from France after his training to found his start-up here? This is where a real global success began! Just scan it, this story is really witty. Take a walk from here to Bröms Castle. It has survived for over a millennium and is one of the oldest castles on the Rhine! The scan takes you on an excursion into Rüdesheim's castle history. A little further along Rheinstraße and you will reach Drosselgasse. Well, listen to the very different stories of our alleyways. Why doesn't anyone know Schützengasse and Drosselgasse?

Now it's time for a short walk through the Obergasse and the Eibingen district up to St. Hildegard's Abbey. You should definitely not miss this scan. Once upon a time, this place was and still is home to true female power: Hildegard von Bingen and the 44 Power Women of today's abbey.

From here, the trail leads through the vineyards, always with the Rhine and the vines in view, down to the outskirts of Rüdesheim. Behind the cemetery, the trail passes under the railroad underpass.  Once you have crossed the road (B42), a quiet path leads to the ruins of the Hindenburg Bridge. Over 1100 meters that have disappeared: The Hindenburg Bridge was once the second largest bridge over the Rhine. Today, not much is left of it. Find out why in the scan of the "Bridge of Remembrance".

From here you return to the starting point via Kastanienallee and the harbor park along the Rhine.

Unser Tipp

The monastery store and wine shop at St. Hildegard Abbey is a great place to browse. It's not easy to choose between delicious spelt products, fine wines or inspiring literature.
